Boerne Main Street Summer 2026: What to Watch on South Main

If you have driven the Hill Country Mile in the last month, you have seen the scaffolding, the paper on the windows, and the sandwich boards. The generic version of this story says Boerne is growing. The version that actually matters to people who live here is more specific: the summer's new-business activity is not spread evenly across town. It is compressed into a two-block stretch at the south end of Main, and the permit and lease trail there tells you what your Saturday walk will feel like by Labor Day.

The bigger projects everyone points to, Boerne Town Center out at Christus Parkway and the 12 Herff Road development, are still a fall-to-2027 story. What is opening now is downtown, on foot, between the Chamber of Commerce and Market Avenue.

The South Main Cluster, Address By Address

Walk south from Main Plaza and four separate projects are converging into one connected block by August. Taken together they are the most concentrated change to the pedestrian core in several years.

• 129 S Main Street. CuStumm Design & Tees has already soft opened its new downtown Boerne location and is now preparing for its full official opening later this summer. The shop occupies the left half of the former La Te Da building.
• Former La Te Da, right side. The Cowboy Store, a popular Bandera business, is officially preparing to open its second location on Boerne's Main Street. The business recently confirmed it is targeting a summer opening and says more announcement dates are coming soon. The store is moving into the former La Te Da location between the Boerne Chamber of Commerce and Boerne Grill. Two independent openings sharing one historic footprint is a pattern worth watching, because it is how this stretch has quietly absorbed growth without losing the small-storefront rhythm the Mile is known for.
• 110 Market Ave. Carmella's Pizza Parlor says it is finally entering the home stretch after months of delays tied to a major electrical infrastructure upgrade affecting the entire build, with a late June or early July 2026 target. If you have wondered why the corner has been quiet, that is the answer.
• 101 S Main Street. Black Rifle Coffee Company's block, anchored by the roaster and by the recently opened Mainz Meat Market next door, is already functioning as the informal south gateway. The July 4 Black Rifle Block Party runs 5 to 9 p.m. with Black Rifle Coffee Company and Mainz Meat Market shutting down the street for live music, food, cold drinks and classic cars.

Read those four addresses together and the practical takeaway is that by mid-August, the walk from the Chamber down to Market Avenue will have four more reasons to stop than it did in April. That is a real change in foot-traffic geometry, not a press release.

Main Plaza, Weekend By Weekend

The plaza's summer rhythm is set by two recurring anchors and a rotating cast of one-offs. If you plan around them, you will not be caught circling for parking.

Boerne Market Days. Boerne Market Days brings a vibrant outdoor shopping experience to the heart of Boerne's historic district on Main Plaza. Held on the second full weekend of each month, the market takes place on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Visitors can explore a wide variety of booths featuring artists, craftsmen, and vendors offering everything from jewelry and plants to art, antiques, handcrafts, and collectibles. Live music from Texas musicians adds to the lively atmosphere. The July weekend lands on the 11th and 12th, August on the 8th and 9th. Plan the Cibolo Creek loop or a Dodging Duck brunch around those dates and you will hit the plaza when it is at its liveliest.

The July 4 slate. The plaza opens the holiday with the Flag Run 5K starting at 8 a.m. at Boerne's Main Plaza, with a one-mile run option, proceeds going to the Boerne Fire Department and a scholarship for a high school senior. That, plus the Black Rifle block party at dusk, is the compressed version of a Boerne Independence Day if you are trying to hit the local moments without driving.

Movies in the pool. For families looking for a cheaper, closer-to-home evening than a downtown dinner, the Parks and Recreation calendar puts a free, family-friendly screening of "Zootopia 2" at the Boerne Pool, 106 City Park Road, with the movie starting at sundown and pre-movie fun starting at 7 p.m.

Where The Kids Actually Are In July

The Patrick Heath Public Library has quietly become the busiest kids' venue in town during the school break, and the July programming this year leans into a prehistoric theme worth knowing about if you are trading off pool time for something indoors and air-conditioned.

On July 13 at 9:30 a.m. on the library back lawn at 451 North Main Street, Ancient Animals invites families and children to meet and interact with creatures whose ancestors shared the Earth with the dinosaurs, including a giant python and tortoises. Three days later, on July 16 at 3:00 p.m. in the Library Community Room, Veloci-Crafters lets young adventurers create their own "fossilized" bug soap inspired by ancient insects preserved in amber.

The library also runs Jurassic Journeys: Roar & Read with Boerne Animal Care Services, a summer reading program where children can spend time reading to adorable shelter animals in need of love, cuddles, and companionship. It is the kind of program a lot of newer residents do not realize the library operates, and it fills up.

The Herff Farm Rhythm

If your summer weekends default to the Farmers Market at Herff Farm, the July calendar is worth checking twice. Garden tours at Herff Farm run 10 to 10:30 a.m. during the Farmers Market with The Cibolo's farm manager, Shyann Martinez, at 33 Herff Road in Boerne. Thirty minutes with a working farm manager during peak Hill Country growing season is a better use of a Saturday hour than most of what is on offer, and it is free.

The Herff Road Horizon

The reason the south-Main story matters right now is that the big-format restaurant news everyone has been anticipating is not a summer story. It is a fall-to-2027 story. Two new restaurants led by a Wolfgang Puck trained chef are coming soon to Boerne, according to officials at the Woodmont Company. The eateries will be located inside of the new development at 12 Herff Road in Boerne. It is expected to be completed in 2026, most likely in the summer. Chef Jacob Williamson, who worked under Wolfgang Puck, will oversee the restaurants. The concepts on the sign are 12 Herff Steakhouse and Meet Me Outside.

That project sits about a mile off the Mile, closer to the interstate than the plaza. When it opens it will pull some evening traffic away from the Main Street corridor, which is exactly why the current summer densification at the south end matters. The people investing in the Cowboy Store, CuStumm, and Carmella's are betting that a walkable Main will hold its own against a destination pad site. Watching how the two anchors perform against each other in late 2026 will tell residents a lot about which end of Boerne captures the next round of retail.

Further out the same corridor, construction continues moving steadily at Honda of Boerne along Interstate 10, with the dealership targeting a September 2026 opening as work continues on the large new campus. The dealership is owned by Pohanka Automotive Group, a family-owned company founded in 1919. Not a dinner destination, but a useful marker of how quickly the I-10 frontage is filling in.

A Camp Bar And Feed Detour

One last name for the calendar. If you have not been down to Camp Bar and Feed at 421 S. Main Street, the Christmas in July Tiki Party begins at 4 p.m., with Santa guaranteed to attend, and the shop also hosts a Tiki Torch Workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. where attendees design their own wine bottle tiki torch, with materials and one cocktail included. It is the kind of low-stakes, walk-in Boerne evening that does not show up on the tourist itineraries and is a good reason to keep your summer weekends local.

If you live here, the useful frame for the next eight weeks is not "Boerne is growing." It is that the growth is concentrating in a specific stretch you already walk. Four new front doors will open on two blocks of south Main between Market Avenue and the Chamber before Labor Day. The plaza's recurring anchors, Market Days and the summer concert slate, are unchanged. The library's July programming is denser than most residents realize. And the Herff Road build-out that will reset restaurant expectations in Boerne is still a season away.

That gap between what is opening downtown now and what is opening on the frontage later is the interesting part of the market this summer. It is also the reason a slow evening on the Mile in July is worth the walk. By October the geography will feel different.
